The Fells Fairies
by Wendy Pfaffenbach
"What do you mean?" Bird asked. "Aren't most children good?"

The queen frowned. "Of course, most children are good," she replied. "But I didn't say good. I said 'right.' A good child wouldn't have helped us at all. A good child would have asked what the rules were and worried about breaking them. A good child would try to please me. Good children are fine for crowded classrooms, playgrounds, and family gatherings, but we needed you."

The Fells, a nature preserve outside Boston, is in danger. Developers want to take it over and build a shopping mall. The Fairy Queen has called upon two little girls, Star and Bird, to save the forest. Can they come up with a plan to stop the destruction?
